HEBRON, February 3, 2026 (WAFA) – Several Palestinians on Tuesday evening suffocated amid heavy tear gas firing by Israeli forces in the al-Arroub refugee camp, north of Hebron, according to local sources.
They said that a convoy of Israeli army vehicles stormed the refugee camp, where the soldiers ransacked several houses and fired volleys of tear gas canisters, causing several inhabitants to suffocate.
The gun-toting soldiers obliged storeowners to close their stores in the course of the raid.
The occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids are conducted without the need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses, in line with its broad and arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law, army commanders have full executive, legislative, and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
