NEW YORK, January 25, 2026 (WAFA) – UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said on Sunday that Gaza has become the most dangerous place in the world for journalists and humanitarian workers, noting that more than 230 journalists have been killed in the Gaza Strip.
According to the agency’s official website, Lazzarini added in a statement that preventing journalists from entering Gaza reinforces disinformation campaigns and extremist narratives. He said, “Palestinian journalists are our eyes and ears in covering the horrors of the war on Gaza.
"They conveyed a powerful human picture of its effects and worked with bravery and courage despite all the difficulties.”
He pointed out that journalists worked alongside humanitarian workers, adding that preventing journalists from entering Gaza aims to discredit firsthand accounts and the testimonies of international humanitarian organizations, as well as to dehumanize Palestinians.
