DAVOS, January 21, 2026 (WAFA) — Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa met with Swiss President Guy Parmelin and Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis on Wednesday to discuss ways to strengthen international support for Palestine and the latest political and humanitarian developments concerning the Palestinian cause.
Mustafa praised Switzerland’s continued support for Palestine over recent years and underscored the importance of the country's role in protecting civilians, ensuring respect for international humanitarian law, and supporting international efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace based on UN resolutions and the two-state solution.
He stressed that the priority in the Gaza Strip is to provide temporary shelter, rehabilitate infrastructure, and restore essential services, emphasizing the vital role of UN agencies, foremost among them UNRWA, which he said cannot be replaced or marginalized, along with the crucial roles of the World Food Programme and the World Health Organization.
During his meeting with Swiss Foreign Minister Cassis, Mustafa warned of the dangers of the ongoing Israeli measures in the West Bank, including the withholding of Palestinian tax revenues, settler violence, and obstacles placed in the way of the Palestinian Authority’s ability to perform its duties and provide services to the Palestinian people. He called for continued international focus on the situation in the West Bank.
Both meetings discussed enhancing cooperation and supporting Palestine at the political, humanitarian, and development levels in view of the current challenges, as well as the importance of working toward peace and stability in Palestine and the region.
