Foreign Ministry welcomes UN Commission of Inquiry report on Israeli occupation’s deliberate targeting of Palestinian children

RAMALLAH, June 23, 2026 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Tuesday welcomed the report issued by the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel on the deliberate targeting of Palestinian children in the occupied Palestinian Territory since 7 October 2023.

The Ministry affirmed that the report constitutes documented international testimony to the scale of the humanitarian tragedy faced by Palestinian children, and presents serious legal evidence exposing the extent of crimes committed by the occupation forces and colonists’ militias against children, in blatant violation of international covenants and principles that affirm the necessity of respecting children’s rights and ensure them the highest levels of legal and international protection.

The Ministry said that occupation forces and colonists’ militias systematically target Palestinian children on a daily basis, treating them as legitimate targets while committing crimes of deliberate killing, starvation, forced displacement, arbitrary detention, torture, sexual violence, and deprivation of healthcare and education, as well as the destruction of the foundations of normal life. It added that this includes the killing of their relatives and family members, turning thousands of children into orphans and leaving devastating human and psychological effects on an entire generation of Palestinian children.

The ministry also welcomed the conclusions of the report, which confirmed that Israel, the occupying power, has committed war crimes and crimes against humanity against the Palestinian people, particularly children, and the comprehensive documentation of the catastrophic effects left by Israeli crimes, including the crime of genocide, on an entire generation of Palestinian children, which requires urgent international action commensurate with the legal and moral responsibilities incumbent upon the international community.

The Ministry affirmed that the importance of the report lies not only in documenting the crimes and violations, but also in reaffirming the international community’s failure to stop the violations committed by the occupying power and to hold accountable those responsible for these crimes against Palestinian children, as well as those inciting them, whether members of the occupation government, the army, or colonists’ militias.

The Ministry renewed its call on the international community and the United Nations to take immediate legal and practical measures, in fulfillment of their legal, international, and moral obligations, including stopping the ongoing Israeli crimes and violations, ensuring international protection for Palestinian children, and boycotting all forms of engagement with Israel, the occupying power, as it is listed on the United Nations list of entities and states violating children’s rights, known as the “list of shame.”

The Ministry stressed that it will continue its efforts to expose the occupation’s crimes against the Palestinian people and their land, and to work with the international community to ensure accountability for those responsible for committing them.

The Ministry affirmed that the continued failure of the international community to implement resolutions of international legitimacy, as well as the orders and provisional measures issued by the International Court of Justice in this regard, encourages the occupation authorities to persist in their violations and crimes against Palestinian civilians and undermines the international legal system and the principles of justice and human rights, which necessitates decisive international action to ensure accountability, end impunity, and protect the Palestinian people and their children.
