NEW YORK, January 14, 2026 (WAFA) – New York Attorney General Letitia James announced a legal settlement that terminated the operations of Betar US, a Zionist youth movement, within the state, following an investigation that revealed its involvement in intimidation campaigns and systematic targeting of students and activists supporting Palestine.
The investigation showed that the organization used tactics of intimidation, incitement, and privacy violations in an attempt to silence voices supporting the rights of the Palestinian people on American university campuses.
Activists considered the move a victory for freedom of expression and protection for pro-Palestinian activism, while the Attorney General affirmed that New York will not allow the use of fear or intimidation to suppress solidarity with just causes, sending a clear message that supporting Palestine and peacefully expressing that support is protected by law.
