LONDON, January 9, 2026 (WAFA) — The General Union of Palestinian Students (GUPS) – Britain Branch organized a national event to welcome Palestinian students who were evacuated from the Gaza Strip, as part of efforts to provide them with academic support and facilitate their integration into British universities.
The event falls within the union’s national and social role in supporting Palestinian students and strengthening their presence and active participation within academic institutions across the United Kingdom.
The event was attended by Head of the Palestinian Community in Britain Nehad Khanfar, Secretary of Fatah in Britain Mohammad Irsheid, and GUPS supervisor Ahmad Shaath.
During the event, a number of individuals and institutions supporting Palestinian education were honored in appreciation of their efforts, including the Gaza Scholarship Initiative–UK (GSI-UK), Dr. Nora Barr, British Member of Parliament Abtisam Mohamed, Médecins Sans Frontières, the University of Sussex, and the University of Cambridge.
