NORTH CAROLINA, January 4, 2026 (WAFA) – A notable act of solidarity took place in Asheville, North Carolina, where activists from the "Veterans for Peace" organization, which includes former U.S. military personnel, raised an illuminated "Free Palestine" banner over one of the city's main bridges in support of the Palestinian people.
The action took place late at night, sending a clear message to hundreds of drivers and citizens, and quickly gaining widespread attention on social media.
This move carries a special significance, as it comes from former soldiers who have experienced the realities of war and its consequences. Through this gesture, they express their rejection of the Israeli occupation’s violence and policies and call for an end to the suffering of the Palestinian people.
