President Abbas meets with King of Spain

MADRID, December 10, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas met today in Madrid with King Felipe VI of Spain.

During the meeting, President Abbas reviewed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly following Spain's recognition of the State of Palestine, as well as the latest political developments and the situation on the ground in Palestine.

The President expressed his gratitude to Spain, its government, and its friendly people for their courageous stances in supporting the Palestinian people and their just cause in international forums, including the international coalition and the New York conference, and for mobilizing international support for further recognition of the State of Palestine and providing humanitarian aid and assistance in building the institutions of the State of Palestine.

President Abbas and King Felipe VI also discussed efforts to solidify the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensure the entry of humanitarian aid, complete the Israeli withdrawal from the Strip, enable the State of Palestine to assume its responsibilities, proceed with reconstruction, prevent displacement and annexation, and restore lasting stability, paving the way for ending the occupation and achieving the independence of the State of Palestine as a viable, democratic, and sovereign state in accordance with international law.

The President affirmed his full commitment to all the reforms to which the State of Palestine has committed.
