DOHA, December 4, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian national football team overturned a 2-0 deficit against Tunisia on Thursday to secure a 2-2 draw in the Arab Cup, hosted by Qatar. The result puts Palestine at the top of their group with four points, while Tunisia earned their first point, temporarily moving to third place.

Palestine’s goals came from Hamed Hamdan in the 61st minute and Zaid Qunbar in the 85th minute, while Tunisia took the lead through Amor Layouni in the 16th minute and Firas Chaouat in the 51st.

The match began at a fast pace, with Tunisia threatening first in the 9th minute, only for Palestinian goalkeeper Rami Hamadeh to make a crucial save. Palestine’s first notable chance came in the 36th minute when Hamdan’s shot narrowly missed the goal.

Tunisia extended their lead early in the second half, but Palestine responded with determination. Hamdan’s first goal came after a rebound from Yassine Meriah, and Qunbar’s strike late in the game secured the comeback. Palestinian goalkeeper Hamadeh also denied a late chance by Tunisia’s Ismaël Gharbi.

The other match in the group, between Qatar and Syria, is scheduled later Thursday at Khalifa International Stadium. Group standings after two rounds see Palestine with four points, Tunisia with one, and the others yet to complete their second fixtures.

The third round will take place on Sunday, with Qatar facing Tunisia at Al Bayt Stadium and Syria playing Palestine at Education City Stadium. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals of the 2025 Arab Cup.
