Arab Ministers of Information hold 21st session focusing on Palestinian issue and media cooperation

CAIRO, November 25, 2025 (WAFA) - The Executive Bureau of the Arab Ministers of Information held its 21st session today at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo, chaired by Saudi Minister of Information Salman Al-Dossary, with the participation of Palestine’s Supervisor General of Official Media, Minister Ahmed Assaf.

The meeting reviewed the draft agenda for the 55th session of the Arab Ministers of Information Council scheduled for tomorrow, following the outcomes of the 103rd session of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media earlier in the day.

The session focused on developments related to the Palestinian cause, the Arab Media Code of Ethics, the implementation of the Arab Media Action Plan Abroad, the role of the Arab E-Media Committee, countering terrorism through Arab media, the Arab media roadmap for sustainable development 2030, and formulating a unified strategy for dealing with international media companies.

Minister Assaf presented an overview of the latest political developments regarding the Palestinian issue, particularly the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza due to the Israeli aggression, daily attacks by the occupation, settler terrorism, and assaults on holy sites in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

He also discussed Palestine’s political and diplomatic efforts, led by President Mahmoud Abbas in coordination with Arab states, to garner international support for Palestinian state recognition.

The minister emphasized the current priorities of the Palestinian leadership: consolidating the ceasefire, facilitating humanitarian aid, advancing reconstruction of Gaza, preventing displacement and annexation, empowering the State of Palestine to fully assume its responsibilities in Gaza, and stopping the undermining of Palestinian institutions.

Mr. Assaf praised the role of Arab media in conveying the Palestinian people’s suffering, supporting their cause, and promoting the Palestinian narrative against the Israeli occupation’s false narratives. He commended the efforts of the Arab media and communication sector in backing the Palestinian struggle across all fronts.

He also underscored the harsh conditions faced by journalists in Palestine and the severe violations they endure at the hands of Israeli forces, noting that 255 journalists have been killed in Gaza and the West Bank since 7 October 2023.
