94 Palestinian prisoners died in Israeli prisons over the past two years: Israeli organization confirms

TEL AVIV, November 17, 2025 (WAFA) – The Israeli human rights organization Physicians for Human Rights reported that 94 Palestinian prisoners have died in Israeli prisons over the past two years as a result of torture and denial of medical care.

The association added in a report published Monday on its website that this number is unprecedented and is believed to be a significant undercount due to the policy of enforced disappearances implemented since October 2023.

It explained that between October 7, 2023, and August 2025, at least 46 Palestinians died in Israeli prisons under the Israeli Prison Service, and another 52, all from the Gaza Strip, died in military detention. These figures are among the 94 cases documented in the report. An additional four prisoners died in October and November 2025.

The association emphasized in its report that these figures demonstrate, beyond any doubt, that the killing of Palestinians occurred in all detention centers. These are not isolated incidents, but rather a policy implemented in all detention centers, the Israeli Prison Service, and the army over the past two years.

The report indicated that preliminary findings from autopsy reports released by the families of detainees, along with testimonies gathered by lawyers who visited the prisons, point to a consistent pattern of severe violence, including head injuries, internal bleeding, and fractured ribs. In other cases, serious medical neglect was documented, including cases of acute malnutrition and denial of life-saving treatment.

It also describes the methods used by the occupying authorities to conceal deaths and prevent serious investigations into their circumstances. It notes that, as a result of this cover-up, no one involved in these violations has yet been brought to justice, confirming the continuation of this pattern of concealment, lack of oversight, and institutional denial of responsibility.

The association stated that the information contained in the report underscores the urgent need for an independent international investigation to halt the policy of killing, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure justice for the victims' families.
