November 9, 2025 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Health stated that the Gaza Strip currently records the highest rate of limb amputations among children worldwide in proportion to its population.

According to a World Health Organization (WHO) report issued in early October, more than 5,000 individuals have undergone amputations during the Israeli aggression on the Strip.

The Ministry announced plans to launch an international fundraising and mobilization campaign to support a special fund for the rehabilitation of amputees. The initiative also aims to rebuild Gaza’s rehabilitation system to achieve sustainable recovery.

This initiative follows a recently released joint report that revealed an unprecedented collapse in rehabilitation services across the Strip, resulting from the extensive destruction of health infrastructure and the sharp increase in injuries caused by the Israeli aggression.

According to the report, the number of injured has exceeded 170,000 by September 2025, with at least a quarter expected to require medium- and long-term rehabilitation care.

The data show that Gaza now records the highest rate of limb amputations among children worldwide in proportion to its population, reflecting the scale of the health and humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip.
