Israeli colonists cut down hundreds of ancient olive trees near Nablus

NABLUS, October 29, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists on Wednesday cut down hundreds of ancient olive trees in the village of Qaryout, south of Nablus, according to local sources.

Farmers said they were shocked to find their olive trees destroyed when they entered their lands in the western area of the village after obtaining a two-day access permit. The lands are located near the illegal colony of Eli, built on the lands of the villages of Qaryout, Al-Sawiya, and Al-Lubban Al-Sharqiya.

Local sources noted that this is the second consecutive year that colonists have carried out similar acts of destruction in the same area.

The olive harvest season in the West Bank has been marked by frequent attacks from Israeli colonists and occupation forces. According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, the Israeli army and colonists have committed 259 attacks against olive harvesters since the season began in early October.

The commission documented 41 assaults by Israeli forces and 218 by colonists. These attacks included physical assaults, arrests, movement restrictions, intimidation, and live fire, with most incidents occurring in the governorates of Ramallah and Al-Bireh, Nablus, and Hebron.
