Israeli colonists cut off water supply to Beit ‘Ur al-Fauqa, west of Ramallah

RAMALLAH, October 2, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists cut off the main water supply feeding the village of Beit Ur al-Fauqa, west of Ramallah, local sources cinfirmed.

Israeli colonists from the Beit Horon illegal colony, built on privately owned Palestinian land, closed the main water valve supplying the village.

The village council in a statement that this attack constitutes a form of collective punishment and revenge, after residents had confronted colonists' attempts a few days earlier to steal village lands and pave a new colonial road.

The council added that from the moment the water was cut off, it initiated contact with all relevant authorities to address the crisis and allow the technical crew to enter the water supply area located within the settlement. However, the technical crew was forced to wait until the late hours of Wednesday night near the Annexation Wall and was not allowed to enter to inspect or repair the defect.

It warned that the cutoff not only deprives village residents of water but also impacts neighboring communities that rely on the same allocation, amid already severe Israeli restrictions on Palestinian water access in the West Bank.

The Council called on local and international human rights and humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene to stop this violation and ensure the immediate restoration of water to the village, stressing that what is happening constitutes collective punishment for a peaceful protest and citizens' refusal to have their land stolen, for which they have official documents proving their ownership.

The Council warned of the accelerating pace of colonial activity in the area, as colonist bulldozers and machinery continue to work around the clock, under the protection of the occupation forces, to complete the construction of the road and impose new facts on the ground.

It further underlined that the village's land area amounts to approximately 4,500 dunams, five-sixths of which will be effectively isolated by colonial roads (Route 443 to the south and the new colonial road to the north), the occupation army's deployment points to the west, and the Beit Horon settlement to the east. This will deprive its owners of use or access to the land, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.

It also noted that the occupation forces are deliberately restricting citizens' movement through the military checkpoint separating the town of Beitunia, west of Ramallah, from the eight towns to its west (Beit Sira, Beit Nuba, Kharbatha al-Misbah, Beit Liqya, al-Tira, Safa, Beit Ur al-Tahta, and Beit Ur al-Fuqa).
