JERUSALEM, September 24, 2025, WAFA - The Bedouin community in Jabal al-Baba, southeast of Jerusalem, faces the threat of forced displacement following the recent approval by the Israeli occupation authorities of the E1 colonial plan.
The said community is home to approximately 450 residents who have lived there since their displacement from their lands in 1948.
Over the past years, the community has been subjected to more than 80 home demolitions, amid repeated attacks by colonists and the occupation army. Each home has been subjected to demolition orders.
It is worth noting that more than 7,000 Bedouin residents in 22 communities in the area face the threat of forced displacement due to the E1 colonial plan.
In the middle of last month, the Minister of Finance in the extremist Israeli occupation government, Bezalel Smotrich, announced his approval of the construction of thousands of colonial units within the colonial plan in the "E1" area, located east of Jerusalem. This would undermine the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state on the ground, undermine its geographical and demographic unity, and consolidate the division of the West Bank into isolated areas.
The implementation of the construction plan in the E1 area would have significant consequences for citizens throughout the West Bank, as Jerusalem is adjacent to the narrowest area in the West Bank, which is only 28 kilometers wide.
Construction in the E1 area would further reduce the already narrow corridor connecting the southern and northern West Bank, and the fragmentation of the area would greatly complicate the establishment of a Palestinian state with geographical contiguity.
