NALUS, January 17, 2025 (WAFA) - Several Palestinian residents suffocated by tear gas on Friday during confrontations that erupted following an Israeli military raid on the town of Beita, south of Nablus, according to local sources.
Sources said that Israeli soldiers fired stun grenades and tear gas canisters at residents, resulting in multiple cases of suffocation. The injured were treated at the scene.
Beita has been repeatedly targeted by Israeli forces and colonists, particularly since the establishment of the colonial outpost of Evitar on Mount Sabih, which was set up on stolen Palestinian land.
On September 6, 2024, Israeli forces killed 26-year-old Turkish-American activist, Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, while she was taking part in the anti-colonies peaceful protest organized by Beita residents.
The activist is among 17 others who have been killed in the town since the Aviatar outpost was established in May 2021.
Residents have been staging weekly rallies in protest of Israeli colonial expansion atop Jabal Sbaih.
