Israeli forces demolish greenhouses near Tulkarm

TULKARM, JERUSALEM, December 16, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation bulldozers Monday demolished greenhouses in the Deir al-Ghusun-Attil plain, north of Tulkarm city.

WAFA correspondent reported that the demolished greenhouses belong to farmers Mohammed Abu Shaira and Fadi al-Atili, both from the town of Attil, and Yousef al-Hamad from Deir al-Ghusun, who own 15 dunums in that area.

Atili told WAFA that the farmers were surprised this morning by the Israeli occupation bulldozers, protected by large forces from the occupation army, demolishing the greenhouses built on his land, which were planted with vegetables, noting that the occupation soldiers prevented him from approaching the place at gunpoint, and forced him to leave it by force.

He added that the occupation handed him and dozens of farmers from Attil and Deir al-Ghusun notices last September to stop building plastic houses and licensing existing ones, specifically in this area, which is located in Basin No. 8654, and is planted with vegetables, and belongs to approximately 30 farmers.

Atili explained that his land is 275 meters away from the racist separation and expansion wall.

The Director General of Agricultural Relief in the northern governorates, Ahed Zanabit, told WAFA that the occupation did not give enough time for objection procedures, or even provide licenses for greenhouses, as it deliberately restricts the farmer, with the aim of forcing him to leave his land, under the pretext of not having a license, and to implement its plans to establish a buffer zone.
