BETHLEHEM, December 15, 2024 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation authorities issued a notice on Sunday to stop land reclamation work in the town of Battir, located west of Bethlehem, according to local sources.
Ghassan Elayan, a UNESCO heritage awareness official for the Battir area, informed WAFA that Israeli forces ordered the cessation of work on land reclamation projects and the removal of any land reclamation works made in an area on the outskirt of the town, citing lack of Israeli permits.
The targeted area has been under increasing pressure from Israeli settlers. Two years ago, Israeli colonists seized the land and established an illegal outpost, Nahil Hiltz, on it, effectively preventing landowners from accessing their property.
This move by Israeli occupation authorities is part of an ongoing pattern of land confiscations and restrictions on Palestinian agricultural activities, exacerbating tensions in the region.
