BEIRUT, November 22, 2024 (WAFA) – Five paramedics were killed today as Israeli airstrikes targeted emergency medical teams in southern Lebanon, according to media and medical sources.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health confirmed that three paramedics were killed, and three others were injured in an Israeli air raid that struck an ambulance in the town of Deir Qanun Ras Al-Ain, located in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon.
In a separate attack, the National News Agency of Lebanon reported that two additional paramedics were killed in another Israeli airstrike that targeted the village of Al-Qatarani in the Jezzine district.
These fatalities bring the total number of medical personnel killed since the onset of Israel's attacks on Lebanon in October 2023 to 214, with 321 others injured.
Since then, Israel has been systematically targeting Lebanon's health infrastructure, striking 94 medical and emergency centers, 40 hospitals, and 249 vehicles used by the healthcare sector, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
The ongoing Israeli assault on Lebanon has led to the murder of 3,583 people and left 15,244 injured, including a significant number of women and children. The aggression has also displaced approximately 1.4 million people across the country. The majority of these casualties and displaced individuals have been recorded since September 23, 2024.
