Stabbing in Rahat leaves one killed, another critically injured amid surge of violence in Palestinian community in 1948-occupied territories

RAHAT, November 15, 2024 (WAFA) - A young man was killed and another was critically injured on Friday evening after being stabbed in the Arab Bedouin city of Rahat, in the Negev inside the 1948-occupied territories.

According to local sources, a medical team arrived at the scene and rushed the victims to the hospital in critical condition. One of the victims was later declared dead.

This crime adds to the worrying trend of rising crime within the Palestinian community in the 1948-occupied territories, a situation made worse by the complicity of Israeli police and a lack of effective government measures to address crime, including organized crime.

Since the start of 2024, 198 Palestinians have been killed in the 1948-occupied territories, including women and children under the age of 18, in various incidents such as shootings, stabbings and car bombings.

Last year, the murder toll reached an all-time high of 228 victims, including 16 women, with most of the perpetrators still unprosecuted.
