GAZA, November, 5, 2024 (WAFA) – Minister of Health Majed Abu Ramadan announced today the extension of the emergency polio vaccination campaign in Gaza City for an additional day in 4 centers.
Abu Ramadan added, in a press statement, that the centers in which the campaign will be extended for a fourth day are Sheikh Radwan Center, Al-Shati Center, Muscat Al-Rahma Center, and Al-Daraj Center.
The second round of the emergency polio vaccination campaign in Gaza Governorate lasted for three days.
The Minister of Health said, "Our children in north if Gaza Strip are still deprived of receiving the second dose of the vaccine, due to the escalation of the Israeli occupation's aggression, its targeting of treatment and vaccination centers, and the difficulty of movement of families and health personnel, which poses a great danger to our children, as the second dose is necessary to obtain full immunity and prevent the transmission of infection to others in the future."
He pointed out that during the second round of the campaign, the Palestinian Ministry of Health teams, in partnership with the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and UNRWA teams, vaccinated 556,477 children “under the age of ten,” and Vitamin A was given to 448,173 children “from two to ten years old,” in various vaccination centers in the Gaza Strip.
Minister Abu Ramadan continued that until Monday evening, 94% of the targeted group of children in the southern governorates had been vaccinated.
