QALQILYA, October 8, 2024 (WAFA) – Five Palestinians Tuesday evening sustained bruises and wounds due to an Israeli army assault in the Kafr Qaddum village, east of the occupied West Bank city of Qalqilya, according to local sources.
They said that Israeli occupation infantry force raided the village and barged their way to one of its neighbourhoods, where they brutally beat up five young men, inflicting cuts and bruises across their bodies.
One of the casualties was rushed to a nearby hospital. His condition was described as moderate.
Kafr Qaddum has been the target of frequent attacks by Israeli forces and colonists. Since July 1, 2011, the village has become the scene of weekly Friday rallies calling for reopening the road that has been blocked since the Second Intifada in 2003 and protesting settler-colonialism schemes.
The road used to link Kafr Qaddum to nearby towns and villages and facilitate the villagers’ access to their lands and residences. As a result of its closure, the villagers have to longer roads to reach their destinations, subjecting them to unexpected prolonged delays and placing additional costs on them.
