RAMALLAH, September 21, 2024 (WAFA) – Numerous cities and capitals worldwide witnessed large-scale demonstrations today in response to the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza.
Across Europe, thousands participated in protests across various locations, including Paris, Vienna, Uppsala, Stockholm, Milan, Maastricht, Liverpool, Odense, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Hamburg, Freiburg, and Berlin, all advocating for the Palestinian people and calling for a ceasefire and humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Demonstrators raised Palestinian flags and held signs condemning the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people. Participants emphasized the need to end double standards and demanded accountability for the occupation's actions, particularly regarding the violence inflicted on children.
In Bremen, Germany, the Palestinian community organized a significant march denouncing the ongoing aggression and the Israeli occupation's atrocities in Gaza and the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
The demonstration saw participation from members of the Arab and Islamic communities, European supporters, and representatives from German political parties.
Notably, Detlef Griesche, a former member of the German parliament from the Social Democratic Party, attended the protest as the honorary president of the German-Palestinian Society. Demonstrators in Bremen carried Palestinian and Lebanese flags, alongside banners expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people and condemning the actions of the Israeli military.
Samer Bilal Aslan, the head of the Palestinian community in Bremen and its suburbs, stated that the world and the international community reject the occupation and the war crimes being committed against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, acknowledging that this occupation is illegal.
Additionally, climate activist Greta Thunberg, during a demonstration in Stockholm, described the genocide occurring in Palestine as "horrific," asserting that silence in the face of such atrocities equates to "complicity."
