Israeli forces detain at least 35 Palestinians in occupied West Bank during past two days

RAMALLAH, Sunday, August 25, 2024 (WAFA) - Israeli occupation forces detained at least 35 Palestinians, including minors and freed prisoners, from across the occupied West Bank during the past two days, said the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) and the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs.

The prisoners' institutions said in a joint statement that the detentions, which were carried out across most of the West Bank governorates, were accompanied by attacks on detainees and their families, in addition to widespread vandalism and destruction of citizens' homes.

The statement noted that the occupation forces detained more than 10,200 citizens in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, since the start of the ongoing Israeli genocide and mass aggression against the Palestinian people on October 7, 2023.

PPS and the Commission said the detention campaigns represent one of the most consistent and systematic policies used by the occupation forces. They are also one of the most prominent tools of the occupation’s policy of collective punishment, which is a central method employed by the occupation to target Palestinians, stressed the statement.
