Israeli forces detain six Palestinians following colonist attack south of Hebron

HEBRON, September 17, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces today detained six Palestinians following an attack by Israeli colonists, while another group of colonists damaged 50 olive trees in the Masafer Yatta region.

Activist Osama Makhamreh told WAFA that a group of armed colonists attacked several Palestinians and blocked their passage in the Khirbet Khallet al-Hummus hamlet, south of Yatta town. Israeli forces subsequently raided the area and detained six Palestinians, including two brothers from the al-Haddar family. The forces also detained several others from the al-Masri family.

Makhamreh added that another group of colonists, protected by Israeli forces, attacked the family of Fadel al-Haddar and attempted to force them out of a makeshift shelter where they had been staying after Israeli forces demolished their home yesterday.

Meanwhile, a group of colonists damaged more than 50 olive trees belonging to local Palestinian citizens in Khirbet Jinba hamlet, in Masafer Yatta, after releasing their livestock into Palestinian-owned fields.

In al-Arroub refugee camp, north of Hebron, Israeli forces set up a military checkpoint at the camp’s entrance, stopping Palestinians and subjecting them to harassment and mistreatment.
