Fatah Central Committee reaffirms need to halt Israeli genocidal aggression on Gaza

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, August 07, 2024 (WAFA) – Fatah Central Committee (FCC) today reaffirmed the need to halt the ongoing Israeli genocidal aggression on the Gaza Strip.

FCC reiterated its call during a meeting at Fatah’s Mobilization and Organization Headquarters in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.

The FCC addressed several topics related to the political situation and the latest developments in the Palestinian Territories due to the ongoing Israeli aggression.

The Committee affirmed Palestine’s political position recently expressed by President Mahmoud Abbas, which calls for the need to bring an immediate end to the incessant aggression inflicted on the Palestinian people in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, including Jerusalem, compel the occupation authorities to halt the war of genocide and starvation against Palestinians in the Strip, which is waged concurrently with extrajudicial killings and raids across the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

It also reiterated Palestine’s political position calling for the need to allow unimpeded access for humanitarian assistance and aid to all parts of the Strip without delay, ensure the full withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Gaza, and progressing towards a political solution inclusive of the Palestinian territories as a whole in line with the relevant UN resolutions.

It affirmed that through its blind political, financial and military support for Israel, the US is noy only responsible for the continuation of the war against the Palestinian people, but also violates the rulings by international courts calling for an immediate ceasefire and adherence to international law, which the Israeli occupation authorities adamantly violate by perpetrating genocidal massacre against Palestinians.

It pointed out that military and security solutions would neither bring security nor stability to anyone and that talking about the post-war plan and ‘day after’ would not yield anything without halting the aggression.

The only thing that could be applied, the FCC added, is that approved by the Palestinian people and leadership, represented by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, which has the mandate over the whole territories of the State of Palestine, including the Gaza Strip.

It stressed that the only way to establish peace and stability in the region, which is on the brink of a regional war as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression, is to end the Israeli occupation and realize the establishment of the State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

It expressed appreciation of Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli detention, who suffer the most heinous forms of torture at the hands of Israeli occupation forces, resulting in the killing of dozens, and called on all international human rights organizations to immediately intervene to compel the Israeli occupation to stop its crimes against prisoners and implement the Geneva Conventions on prisoners.

The Committee heard a report on the Beijing Declaration on Ending Division and Strengthening Palestinian National Unity, as it affirmed the need to restore intra-Palestinian unity as soon as possible as a means to stop the ongoing aggression and genocidal massacres against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and deny the enemies of the Palestinian people any pretext, so as to implement the United Nations resolutions, conducive to ending the occupation and realizing the establishment of the Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

It also heard a detailed report on the contacts and efforts underway at the Palestinian and Arab levels, including the offer on running Rafah border crossing and the Palestinian position, which remains consistent with the Arab Group’s position in this regard, effectively rejecting any proposals that violate the 2005 Agreement on Movement and Access and the Agreed Principles for Rafah Crossing.

In this regard, the Committee affirmed Palestine’s position stressing the need of complete Israeli withdrawal from the Strip, adopting the joint Arab vision and the 2005 Agreement, so as to safeguard Palestinian principles, allow for the return of the Palestinian Authority to return to the Strip, which is an integral part of the territories of the State of Palestine, given its mandate over it, and assert to the need to reach a comprehensive political solution for the occupied Palestinian territories as a whole in the Gaza Strip and the west Bank, including Jerusalem, in line with the UN resolutions.

It discussed the state of internal organizational affairs, stressing the need to immediately implement the procedures to consolidate unity, and decided to form a committee comprising FCC members to be tasked with taking practical steps to this end.
