GAZA, Thursday, July 18, 2024 (WAFA) - Medical sources confirmed this evening the presence of the poliovirus in the Gaza Strip, raising alarms of a potential health catastrophe. 

Following tests conducted on sewage samples in collaboration with UNICE, the virus responsible for polio was identified.

Authorities stress that the presence of this virus poses a significant health threat, endangering thousands of people , especially children. 

The risk of polio infection is heightened due to extensive infrastructure damage, lack of hygiene, and sanitation facilities in residential areas and makeshift shelters.
