RAMALLAH, Sunday, June 30, 2024 (WAFA) - Nakashima Yoichi, Ambassador for Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestine visited Jericho Women Charitable Society in Jericho Governorate to celebrate the completion of a project funded by the Government of Japan through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).
The Government of Japan extended a grant of $90,279 to the Jericho Women Charitable Society to improve the educational environments for the students by installing solar panel systems to provide sufficient power for running air conditioners in the classrooms.
About 900 people will directly benefit from the project, according to a press release issued by the Representative Office of Japan to Palestine.
In his speech, Nakashima emphasized Japan’s firm commitment to supporting Palestinian people from a human security perspective and the importance of implementing social and economic development projects needed for Palestinian communities.
Since 1993, the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance to approximately $2.5 billion, to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority since 2010.
