Increase in Construction Cost Index and other indexes in the West Bank during May 2024 - PCBS

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, June 25, 2024 (WAFA) - An increase of 0.37% in the Construction Cost Index (CCI) for residential buildings in the West Bank was recorded during May 2024 compared with the previous month, today said the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS).

A similar increase in the Construction Cost Index (CCI) for non-residential buildings of 0.33 % and skeleton buildings of 0.83% were recorded during the same period.

The overall Road Cost Index (RCI) in the West Bank increased in May 2024 by 0.17 %, for Water Networks Cost Index (WNCI) by 0.37%, and for Sewage Networks Cost Index (SNCI) by 0.25% compared with April 2024.

PCBS said CCI for residential buildings increased by 0.37% during May 2024 compared with April 2024 due to an increase in the prices of raw materials by 0.65%, and the price of rental of equipment by 0.32%. The prices of labor costs and wages remained stable during May 2024.

CCI for non-residential buildings also increased by 0.33% during May 2024 compared with April due to the increase in prices of raw materials by 0.58%, and the price of the rental of equipment by 0.44%. At the same time, the prices of the labor costs and wages remained stable during May 2024 compared with the previous month.

Likewise, CCI for skeleton buildings increased by 0.83% during May 2024 compared with April 2024 due to an increase in the prices of raw materials by 1.34%, and the price of the rental of equipment by 0.33%, while the prices of labor costs and wages remained stable.

RCI increased by 0.17% during May 2024 compared with April 2024 due to a rise in the price of rental of equipment by 0.24% and the price of raw materials by 0.22%. The prices of operating costs of equipment and maintenance, and the prices of the labor costs and wages remained stable during May 2024 compared with the previous month.

The WNCI increased by 0.37% during May compared with April, water reservoir cost increased by 1.53%, while the water networks cost index decreased by 0.10% and SNCI decreased by 0.25%, said the PCBS.
