Completion of two Japan-funded projects in Nablus Governorate

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, June 12, 2024 (WAFA) -  Nakashima Yoichi, Ambassador for Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestine, visited Beit Dajan and Talfit villages in Nablus governorate to celebrate the completion of projects funded by the Government of Japan through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).

The Government of Japan extended a grant of $88,247 to Beit Dajan Village Council to improve the educational environment for the students in Beit Dajan Secondary School by adding four new classrooms. About 110 students will directly benefit from the project by improving the educational environment in the school, according to a press release issued by the Representative Office of Japan to Palestine.

Also, the Government of Japan extended a grant of $86,549 to Talfit Village Council to improve the educational environment for the students in Talfit Secondary Girls School by adding four new classrooms. About 80 students will directly benefit from the project by improving the educational environment in the school.

In his speech, Nakashima emphasized Japan’s firm commitment to supporting Palestinian people from a human security perspective as well as the importance of implementing social and economic development projects needed for Palestinian communities.

Since 1993, the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance to approximately USD 2.4 billion, to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through the Ministry of Finance since 2010.
