RAMALLAH, Saturday, February 17, 2024 (WAFA) – The great Arab artist Duraid Lahham today stressed the necessity of keeping the Palestinian issue present in Arab artistic works, calling on all Arab writers to continue working on the approach of al-Taghreba al-Falastenya series, which showed the world part of what happened to the Palestinian people in terms of catastrophe and displacement.
The artist Lahham said in an interview on Palestine TV, that the Palestinians set an example to the world in their steadfastness and belonging and defeated the impossible in remaining on their land, and that everyone must pay attention to supporting and advocating the Palestinian cause.
He continued "I am honored to accept any artistic work for the benefit of the Palestinian cause without any financial compensation and without any preconditions."
Lahham thanked President Mahmoud Abbas, who awarded him a medal in honor of his role as an artist in supporting the Palestinian cause, noting that he was scheduled to visit Palestine to meet with him in the city of Ramallah.
Lahham appreciated the position of South Africa, which filed a lawsuit against Israel before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which had a positive impact on the world’s interaction and action regarding the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip.
He pointed out that the world-wide support for the Palestinian cause is intensifying “We are now seeing the Palestinian flag strongly in Western capitals and in America" noting that "we are happy that the Palestinian issue has returned to boiling in the Western streets, which will have a major role in changing the positions of governments in these countries.”
