Newspapers Review: Fighting in northern Gaza, calls for aid, colonists’ war in West Bank focus of dailies

RAMALLAH, Monday, October 30, 2023 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today highlighted the fighting in the northern Gaza Strip, calls for allowing humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, and colonists taking advantage of the war on Gaza to wage their own war in the West Bank.

“Fierce fighting in the northern Gaza Strip to stop an incursion by the occupation forces,” was the main front-page headline in al-Ayyam daily.

“International calls to bring humanitarian aid to Gaza,” was one of the two main front-page headlines in al-Quds daily, while the other said, “Colonists taking advantage of the war to kick the Palestinians out of their villages in the West Bank.”

The third daily, al-Hayat al-Jadida, had a picture on half of its front page showing the shelling on Gaza and a man holding his dead daughter, while the words “My God” printed in big letters on the picture.

The dailies said that five people were killed by Israeli army gunfire in the West Bank yesterday during raids of several areas.

Al-Ayyam said the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court said from the Egyptian side of Rafah that it is not possible to ignore the brutal Israeli war on Gaza.

It said Washington is pressing Israel to stop targeting Palestinian civilians.

The paper also reported on the demonstrations around the world in solidarity with Gaza.
