Newspapers Review: The Israeli onslaught and massacres in Gaza highlight of the dailies

RAMALLAH, Saturday, October 28, 2023 (WAFA) – The ongoing, non-stop, and brutal Israeli military onslaught and massacres in the Gaza Strip continue to dominate the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.

The main front-page story headline in al-Quds daily said Israel cut all communications in the Gaza Strip and carried out frenzied and non-stop bombardment.

Al-Ayyam daily said in its main front-page story headline that the Israeli occupation army launched the first steps for a ground assault in the Gaza Strip, and the third daily, al-Hayat al-Jadida said: “Gaza out of the era.”

The papers also highlighted the Israeli army killing of three Palestinians in Jenin and a fourth in Qalqilya, as well as dozens of injuries from the Israeli army crackdown on protests in the West Bank.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution calling for an immediate humanitarian and sustainable truce in Gaza.

It said massive marches were held last night in the West Bank in support of Gaza.

Al-Quds quoted the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) saying that it has documented 629,000 displaced people in the Gaza Strip who have taken refuge in 150 of its facilities.

It also said the Israeli police attacked and prevented the arrival of Palestinians to hold the Friday prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem as the number of those who were allowed in was very small.

Al-Ayyam said the occupation forces cut all communications in Gaza by shelling the last two Internet providers in the Strip.

It said negotiations are being rushed to reach an exchange of prisoners deal with Qatari mediation.

It quoted the Israeli rights group, B’Tselem, saying that the Israeli bombardment of Gaza is a war crime.

It quoted the Red Cross saying that the first group of 10 doctors had entered Gaza through the Rafah crossing.
