Newspapers Review: Two Palestinians killed in an Israeli army assault on Tulkarm highlight of dailies

RAMALLAH, Monday, September 25, 2023 (WAFA) – The Israeli army killing of two young Palestinians in an assault on Nur Shams refugee camp in the northern West Bank city of Tulkarm was highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.

“Two martyrs, blowing up three houses and destruction in the infrastructure in an occupation aggression on Nur Shams refugee camp,” said the main front-page story headline in al-Hayat al-Jadida daily.

“Two martyrs in an incursion of Nur Shams refugee camp and the occupation army causes destruction in the infrastructure,” said Al-Ayyam daily.

The third daily, al-Quds, said: “An Israeli soldier wounded and bulldozer damaged: Two martyrs in Nur Shams camp.”

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the presidency condemned the Israeli crimes in Tulkarm and other West Bank cities, saying that these acts are an enforcement of the plan the Israeli Premier Netanyahu announced at the United Nations.

It also quoted the Saudi foreign minister saying that the security of the Middle East requires a quick just solution to the Palestinian cause.

Al-Ayyam said a Saudi delegation is expected to arrive in Palestine in the next two days headed by the new Saudi ambassador to Palestine Nayef al-Sudeiri.

It said the Israeli occupation forces shelled several observation points on the border fence with Gaza following confrontations during which six people were injured and incendiary balloons were flown from Gaza into southern Israel causing five fires.

Al-Ayyam said Israel ordered to stop work in 21 houses and structures in a village west of Salfit.

It also said the toll of Palestinians killed in the Libya floods increased to 64.

It said, quoting Israeli papers, that the US is pressuring Israel to reopen the US consulate in Jerusalem.

Al-Quds said a settler ran over a disabled youth and a girl in Hebron, while Israeli forces broke into an area in Beit Hanina neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem and assaulted its residents.

It said Israeli forces raided Birzeit University campus near Ramallah, detained eight students and assaulted the university guards.

It said that 673 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque and held rituals on the occasion of Yom Kippur holiday. It said Jordan denounced the settlers’ storming of the Muslim holy site.
