RAMALLAH, Thursday, June 15, 2023 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today highlighted on their front page the visit of President Mahmoud Abbas to China and his meeting with his Chinese counterpart, President Xi Jinping.
The papers said the two leaders agreed to establish a strategic partnership between their two countries and oversaw the signing of cooperation agreements.
Al-Quds daily quoted President Xi saying that he has a 3-point vision to solve the Palestinian issue.
The three dailies also reported on the Israeli military siege on the Jenin-area town of Yabad, which obstructed the attendance of students sitting for the general high school matriculation exams, tawjihi.
Al-Quds said the settlers direct the Israeli police to issue fines to Palestinian commuters on roads near the evacuated Homesh settlement.
It also said the Israeli army admitted responsibility for the killing of the Tamimi toddler.
Al-Ayyam daily said the family of Omar Asaad, the 80-year-old Palestinian-American man who died of a heart attack after being mistreated by Israeli soldiers last year, intends to appeal the Israeli military prosecutor’s decision to close his investigation file without reaching any results.
It quoted a report saying that the Israeli occupation authorities allocated half of confiscated Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank to the settlers.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida daily said US activists urged their Congress members to get rid of AIPAC, the pro-Israel lobby group in Washington.
It also said activists have launched from Ramallah a campaign to end the intra-Palestinian division on the 16th anniversary of the Hamas takeover of power in the Gaza Strip.
It also reported on Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh’s meetings with European and Japanese officials at his Ramallah office.
The paper also said Palestine’s ambassador to the Vatican delivered a letter from President Abbas to the Pope mainly to check about his health following the Pope’s surgery.
