Newspapers Review: Israeli occupation army killing of a Palestinian boy near Bethlehem focus of dailies

RAMALLAH, Saturday, April 29, 2023 (WAFA) – The Israeli army killing of a young Palestinian during confrontations in the town of Tuquo, near Bethlehem, was highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.

They said Mustafa Amer Sabah, 15, was shot and killed during confrontations with soldiers who raided the town. The soldiers opened fire at residents hitting Sabah in the chest and killing him while others suffered from inhaling tear gas.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida daily said the Israeli security services have threatened to kill Sabah, according to his father, because he often resisted the occupation forces and was imprisoned several times.

It also said the detainees Khader Adnan, 44, and Majd Amarneh, 51, continue in their hunger strike demanding their freedom from Israeli detention.

Al-Quds daily said that in addition to the killing of Sabah, the Israeli army injured dozens of others in confrontations in various areas of the occupied West Bank.

It said the occupation authorities have also issued a demolition order against the family home in Nablus of a Palestinian prisoner.

It also said 50,000 people attended the Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

The third daily, al-Ayyam, said in addition to the killing of Sabah and the injuries in the confrontations, settlers have also destroyed property and vehicles of Palestinians in the West Bank and chopped olive trees.

It also said that Israel intends to start in weeks to legalize 70 settlement outposts in the occupied territories.

The paper said the European Commission has rejected the Palestinian criticism of its president for praising Israel, saying the criticism was unacceptable and demanding an explanation.

The dailies also said the Palestinian evacuees from Sudan have arrived in the Gaza Strip via Egypt and were received by their families at Rafah crossing.

The situation in war-torn Sudan also received front-page coverage in the dailies.
