Israeli forces detain 16 Palestinians in West Bank raids, two youths in Jerusalem

HEBRON, Monday, April 24, 2023 (WAFA) - Israeli forces today detained at least 16 Palestinians during military raids across the West Bank, in addition to two youths in Jerusalem, said sources.

Israeli forces detained five Palestinians in Hebron city, including the son of the President of the Palestinian Bar Association.

WAFA correspondent said forces raided the home of the President of the Palestinian Bar Association, Sohail Ashour, seized his car, and detained his son. Ashour accused the Israeli soldiers of stealing around 280 thousand Shekels during the raid on his house.

Forces further wreaked havoc into several homes in the city of Hebron. A man was detained after forces raided and searched his home in the city.

Forces also stormed a locale in Masafer Yatta area, searched several homes belonging to the Jabarin family, and detained two Palestinians aged 29 and 32. They were taken to an unknown destination, said Rateb al-Jabour, a local activist.

A university student was also detained after forces raided and searched his family home in the town of Surif to the northwest of Hebron.

Four Palestinians, including two former Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, were also detained in Jenin’s town of Yabad and the village of Kafr Qoud, in the northern occupied West Bank, according to security and local sources.

Forces raided the said areas and detained four Palestinians after raiding, searching, and wreaking havoc into their homes.

Forces further intensified their military measures northeast of Jenin.

Six more Palestinians were detained in Nablus city after forces raided and searched their homes during military incursions into several neighborhoods in the city and the town of Beita to the south. 

A youth, aged 22 from the town of Tammun in Tubas, the northern Jordan Valley, was also detained at a metal gate to the south of Tubas.

In the meantime, Israeli police detained two youths form the town of Sour Baher, a neighborhood on the southeastern outskirts of East Jerusalem.
