RAMALLAH, Tuesday, February 28, 2023 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today highlighted on their front page the havoc and destruction caused by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank as well as the army siege on the cities of Nablus and Jericho.
The main front-page headline in al-Hayat al-Jadida daily said: “The arsonists (settlers) continue in their terrorism and the occupation forces blockaded Nablus and Jericho.”
Al-Quds daily said in its main front-page headline: “While the army demolishes and orders the demolition of dozens of homes and facilities, settlers continue in their rampage in the West Bank as eyes shift toward Hawara and the blockade on Nablus and its area villages.”
The third daily, al-Ayyam, said in the main headline: “Residents of Beita confront Ben Gvir and his followers; the settlers spread out their terror campaign and the occupation army tightens the blockade on the Nablus Governorate.”
The Palestinian cabinet decided to form a committee to follow up on the needs of the Palestinians in Hawara whose homes, cars and businesses were destroyed by the Israeli arsonists, as reported in al-Quds, which also said that Arab and international parties have condemned the settler attacks in Hawara.
Al-Quds said a settler was also killed in a shooting attack near Jericho and top army commanders called for continuing in the incursions into the Palestinian cities.
Al-Ayyam said Washington called on Israel to take action against the settlers as a senior Israeli lawmaker said he wants to see Hawara burnt to the ground.
It said Israel is going to expel a Palestinian resident of the city of Haifa in northern Israel to the West Bank after his release from prison on Sunday after spending 20 years behind bars after he was convicted of assisting a Palestinian attacker in Haifa in 2003.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted the secretary general of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization Hussein al-Sheikh saying the Aqaba meeting was political and not security and that the Palestinians did not make any concessions.
