RAMALLAH, Thursday, February 23, 2023 (WAFA) – The Palestinian territories observe today a general strike in protest against the Israeli army massacre in Nablus yesterday that left 11 Palestinians dead, three of them elderly and a child, and more than 100 injured, some remain in critical condition.
Shops stayed shuttered as students stayed home after their schools and universities also joined the general strike that affected all aspects of life, including banks and public transportation.
The political factions have called for the strike to protest the massacre in Nablus and other Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, as well as repressive measures against Palestinian freedom fighters incarcerated in Israel.
They also called for confrontations with the soldiers at contact points around the occupied territories.
The Palestinian Authority meanwhile has called for an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council to discuss the Israeli measures against the defenseless Palestinian civilians in the occupied territories and to demand international protection.
