Palestinian woman injured in an assault by Israeli soldiers in Hebron

HEBRON, Thursday, September 22, 2022 (WAFA) – A Palestinian woman was injured today in an attack on her home by Israeli soldiers in the city of Hebron, south of the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.

WAFA correspondent said Israeli soldiers assaulted and beat up Shadia Saber Abu Rajab, 37, after raiding her home in the Al-Salaymeh neighborhood in Hebron, causing her bruises.

Nedal Abu Rajab, the woman’s husband, told WAFA that the attacking soldiers permanently shut down one of the two main doors of their home, forcing his seven-member household to walk for more than one hour to reach the neighboring Old City quarter of Hebron, while in normal times it would only take a few minutes.

The city of Hebron in the southern West Bank is home to roughly 160,000 Palestinians and about 800 notoriously aggressive Israeli settlers who live in compounds heavily guarded by Israeli troops.

In February 2019, Israel expelled the only international monitors protecting Hebron’s Palestinians from 800 heavily guarded settlers, one of whom committed the 1994 massacre that triggered their deployment.
