Palestinian prisoner completes 18 years behind Israeli bars

JENIN, Saturday, August 13, 2022 (WAFA) – Wa’el Nairat, a Palestinian political prisoner serving a 25-year sentence in Israeli prisons, completes today 18 years in Israeli prisons, according to a prisoner advocacy group.

The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said Nairat, who comes from the West Bank province of Jenin, was arrested on this day in 2004, and was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his activism in the resistance of the Israeli occupation.

He has lost his father while in prison, and has been denied a farewell to him, PPS added.

The Israeli occupation authorities are currently incarcerating more than 4,500 Palestinian and Arab prisoners for resisting its occupation of their homeland.
