UNRWA: Over 82% of Gaza under displacement orders, people have nowhere to go

NEW YORK, July 1, 2025 (WAFA) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) highlighted the scale of displacement in the besieged Gaza Strip, warning that “more than 82% of Gaza is under displacement orders. People have nowhere to go.”

The agency issued the warning after an UNRWA school-turned-shelter in Gaza was struck by Israeli forces early Monday morning, June 30. The building was housing displaced people at the time of the strike.

“An UNRWA school-turned-shelter in Gaza was struck early on Monday, 30 June, by the Israeli Forces. Displaced people were sheltering in the building,” the agency said in a post on X. “The strike caused significant damage. No injuries were reported.”

UNRWA reiterated that humanitarian infrastructure must be protected, stating: “Humanitarian facilities are not a target.”

It concluded with an urgent plea: “Ceasefire now.”
