Weather forecast: Stormy, rainy conditions to prevail

RAMALLAH, Thursday, March 11, 2021 (WAFA) – A low pressure along with a cold front are set to affect the region today, causing temperature to plummet and paving the way to cloudy, cold and stormy conditions, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Sporadic rain showers, which could be torrential, are expected along with occasional thunderstorms in the north, and will spread to other districts in nighttime. A slight chance of flash floods is expected. Strong southwesterly to northwesterly wind blows in daytime with occasional gusts, while moderate to strong northwesterly to westerly wind blows in nighttime. Sea waves are medium to high.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 17°C and a low of 7°C and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 16°C and a low of 6°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 25°C and a low of 14°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 20°C and a low of 12°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Friday’s temperature is set to further plummet, paving the way to partly cloudy and cold to very cold conditions. The chance remains for sporadic torrential rain showers along with occasional thunderstorms in most districts, with the chance of rain tapering off towards the evening.

Saturday’s temperature is set to significantly rise, paving the way to partly cloudy to clear and relatively cold conditions in the mountains and mild conditions in the Jordan Valley.

An additional rise in temperature is expected on Sunday, paving the way to mild to warm conditions.

PMD warns people against gusty wind which will blow at 80 km/h, floods in flood-prone areas, low horizontal visibility and slippery roads.
