Weather forecast: Unseasonably warm conditions to prevail

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, March 10, 2021 (WAFA) – Weather today is relatively hot, dry and dusty in mountainous districts and hot in other districts as temperature is set to significantly rise and approach 10°C above the seasonal average, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Weather tonight is partly cloudy and cold as temperature plummet, particularly in the mountains. Moderate to occasionally strong, southwesterly to southeasterly wind blows. Sea waves are low to medium.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 25°C and a low of 11°C and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 24°C and a low of 10°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 33°C and a low of 18°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 28°C and a low of 16°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

A low pressure along with a cold front are set to affect the region on Thursday, causing temperature to plummet and paving the way to partly cloudy, cold and stormy conditions. Sporadic rain showers, which could be torrential, are expected along with occasional thunderstorms in the north, and will spread to other districts. A slight chance of flash floods is expected.

Friday’s temperature is set to further plummet, paving the way to partly cloudy and cold to very cold conditions. The chance remains for sporadic torrential rain showers along with occasional thunderstorms in most districts, with the chance of rain tapering off towards the evening.

Saturday’s temperature is set to significantly rise, paving the way to partly cloudy to clear and relatively cold conditions in the mountains and mild conditions in the Jordan Valley.

PMD warns people against gusty wind which will blow at 80 km/h, floods in flood-prone areas, low horizontal visibility and slippery roads.
