Weather forecast: Cloudy, rainy conditions to prevail

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, March 03, 2021 (WAFA) – A low pressure is set to affect the region today, paving the way to partly cloudy to cloudy and cold conditions and causing temperature to drop and approach 4°C below the seasonal average, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Sporadic rain showers with occasional thunderstorms are expected on most districts. Strong southwesterly to westerly wind blows in daytime, and moderate to occasionally active westerly to southwesterly wind blows in nighttime. Sea waves are medium.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 11°C and a low of 6°C and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 10°C and a low of 5°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 21°C and a low of 13°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 16°C and a low of 9°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Thursday’s temperature is set to further slightly drop, with partly cloudy to cloudy and cold to very cold conditions, particularly in mountainous districts. Sporadic rain showers with occasional thunderstorms are expected, with the chance of rain tapering off from midday.

Friday’s temperature is set to significantly rise, paving the way to partly cloudy to clear and cold conditions, particularly in the mountains in the morning and night hours, and relatively mild conditions in the rest of the day.

An additional rise is expected in temperature on Saturday, paving the way to mainly clear and fair conditions in mountains and relatively warm conditions in other districts in daytime. Mainly cold conditions are expected in nighttime.

PMD warns people against the formation of flash floods in flood-prone areas, slippery roads and low horizontal visibility.
