RAMALLAH, Thursday, February 18, 2021 (WAFA) – The cold low-pressure polar front that hit Palestine yesterday is expected to continue to affect the country today bringing heavy rain, thunderstorms and hail, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).
Snow is expected to continue on areas higher than 900 meters above sea level during the morning hours, as chance of scattered rain is expected during the night.
Strong westerly to northwesterly winds are expected during the day which change to northwesterly to southwesterly during the night, and sea waves are high to strong.
Temperature in the capital, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 7°C and a low of 5°C and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 6°C and a low of 4°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 16°C and a low of 10°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 14°C and a low of 10°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.
A slight rise in temperature is expected tomorrow, Friday, as the low pressure continues to affect Palestine and the region. Very cold conditions, as well as rain and thunderstorms, are expected in most districts as the low pressure subsides in the late night hours.
A further rise in temperature is expected on Saturday and Sunday, yet cold conditions continue, said the PMD, which warned people against flash floods in valleys and low areas, slippery roads, and low horizontal visibility, as well as closure of some roads due to snow and icy roads on Saturday and Sunday morning.
