RAMALLAH, Thursday, February 11, 2021 (WAFA) - The second batch of cash assistance from the World Bank grant will be disbursed to about 15,523 workers affected by the Corona pandemic at a rate of 700 Israeli shekels ($215) per worker, today said Minister of Labor Nasri Abu Jaish.
He said the aid amounting to 11 million shekels ($3.3 million) would benefit 61% of the day-by-day laborers who lost their work and 39% of the affected low income families.
Abu Jaish said the Ministry of Labor sent text messages to the workers eligible for the grant aid in order to receive their benefits at a designated bank until the first of March.
He added that this batch includes the affected workers from the West Bank and Gaza Strip, noting that the workers who did not benefit from the first and second batches of the grant will be included in the third and fourth batches soon.
He pointed out that while 71,000 workers are expected to benefit from the aid, so far, the ministry plans to reach about 120,000 workers affected by the Corona pandemic.
