Weather forecast: Occasional showers, thunderstorms expected

RAMALLAH, Friday, January 29, 2021 (WAFA) – Weather today is cloudy, stormy and very cold with a further drop in temperatures, which are unseasonably low, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Occasional rain showers are expected with a chance of thunderstorms and occasional hail, mainly in the north and center, with the chance of rain tapering off towards the night. Strong southwesterly to westerly wind blows in daytime, while moderate to strong westerly to southwesterly wind blows in nighttime. Sea waves are high to medium.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 8°C and a low of 5°C and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 7°C and a low of 4°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 15°C and a low of 11°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 14°C and a low of 9°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Saturday’s temperature is set to slightly rise, with cloudy to partly cloudy and cold to very cold conditions. Sporadic rainfall is expected, particularly in the north, with its chance tapering off towards the evening.

A further rise is expected in temperature which becomes seasonal on Sunday, paving the way to partly cloudy and relatively cold conditions in mountainous districts and slightly cold conditions in other districts.

An additional rise is expected in temperature which becomes unseasonably high on Monday, paving the way to mainly clear and relatively cold conditions in mountainous districts and mild conditions in other districts.

PMD warns people against floods in flood-prone areas, gusty wind, slippery roads and low horizontal visibility.
