Weather forecast: Partly cloudy, relatively cold conditions

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, January 27, 2021 (WAFA) – Weather today is partly cloudy and relatively cold in mountainous districts and mild in other districts in daytime with a slight rise in temperature, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

 Cold and cloudy conditions are expected overnight, with sporadic light rainfall on most districts. Moderate to strong southeasterly to easterly wind blows in daytime, while westerly to southwesterly wind blows in nighttime. Sea waves are low in daytime and medium in nighttime.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 17°C and a low of 10°C and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 16°C and a low of 9°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 23°C and a low of 12°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 20°C and a low of 13°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

A polar low pressures and cold front are set to affect the region on Thursday, causing temperatures to plummet and paving the way to cloudy, stormy and very cold conditions. Occasional torrential showers are expected on most districts with a chance of thunderstorms and hail. The rain will intensify towards the night.

Cloudy, stormy and very cold conditions are expected to continue to prevail on Friday with a further drop in temperature. Occasional rain showers are expected with a chance of thunderstorms and occasional hail, with the chance of rain tapering off towards the night.

Saturday’s temperature is set to slightly rise, with cloudy to partly cloudy and cold to very cold conditions. Sporadic rainfall is expected, particularly in the north, with its chance tapering off towards the evening.

PMD warns people against floods in flood-prone area, gusty wind, slippery roads and low horizontal visibility.
