Settlers attack farmers near Yatta, deny them access to own land

HEBRON, Sunday, November 15, 2020 (WAFA) — Hardcore Israeli settlers today attacked and unleashed their dogs towards Palestinian farmers while trying to access their own land near the town of Yatta, to the south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.

Rateb Jabour, Coordinator of the Anti-Wall and Settlement Committees in Hebron, told WAFA that a group of hardline Israeli settlers attacked and unleashed their dogs towards farmers from the Shawaheen family while they were trying to access their own land, before the latter were able to evacuate the scene for fear of being bitten by the dogs.

The family were trying to enter their land for routine farming and plowing works, but were unable to do so as a result of the attack, and were forced to return home.

Attacks by Israeli occupation forces and hardcore settlers on Palestinian farmers often witness a rise during the olive harvest season, which is one of the most important seasons for thousands of Palestinian households in the occupied territories whose income depends heavily on the success of this season.
